 Topsoil is the uppermost layer of soil, which is high in nutrients and organic matter.
Ideal for use in creating new plant beds, borders or raised beds.
Also suitable as a base for turf laying or sowing grass seed
As a guide you will need:-
- For laying lawns - at least 10cm (4in) layer of top soil
- New beds - about 20cm (8in) or more
Our Top Soil is supplied in jumbo bags giving an approx coverage when consolidated of 0.5m3
To calculate how much topsoil you need, simply measure the dimensions of the area you wish to cover and multiply this by the depth required. Measuring in metres is simplest, as this will give you the volume of topsoil you need in cubic metres.
For example: A site has an area of 10m x 15m and needs a coverage of 150mm.
10 x 15 x 0.15 = 22.5m3
